In case you missed it, I’ve moved my newsletter to Ghost. Although it’s been a shitty decision for my wallet, I know it’s the more ethical choice. You can learn more about that here.
Here’s the summary
Substack helped me grow. But I might have outgrown it.
Ghost lets me publish like I think: across cultures, languages, and formats.
I’m supporting a non-profit, decentralized, carbon-neutral business not funded by undeniably evil twats like Marc Andreessen.
I’ll actually have a technical support team.
Don’t unsubscribe from Substack! I’ll still be here, posting lives and hanging out with my friends in the comments. I’m also open to collaborations. And if there’s too much hate on this article, I’ll drop Ghost. Again, there’s that bottom line.
Subscribe to the new site → BORNWITHOUTBORDERS.WORLD.
Unfortunately, the ethical choice isn’t always the one that works in our society.
Why I’m Losing Money by Switching to Ghost
I’m building this without a VC-funded platform.
Without sponsored posts.
Without social-media-like algorithms.
Ghost now costs me €50/month just to run the space—and that’s not counting design, editing, tools, or time.
10 new paid subscribers this month would offset the costs and buy me the time to finish what I’ve started.
That’s it. Ghost doesn’t take 10%. In other words, it might be a better financial choice in the long run.
If you’ve ever gotten value from my:
Cultural deep dives
Blunt language takes
No-bullshit perspective on coaching, creativity, or life abroad...
👉🏽 Please consider becoming a paid subscriber on bornwithoutborders.world. I’m currently updating and improving old essays, but new ones will come soon.
If you’re already a paid subscriber on Substack, don’t worry, you’re payments won’t change. The Ghost support team (yes, they have a support team that actually responds) helped me with that.
