Oh this is much further developed than I expected! Very solid!

(You're aware of the discourse surrounding the term "expats," right? I think it's 55% silly -- there IS a difference between expat and immigrant -- but there's also a point there. The greater issue is, do you want to take on that whole conversation and ensuing criticism?)

Also, no Canadian? Shouldn't that be the unexpected villain?

That's a good point. And I thought about that before using the name "Expats." I'm definitely aware of the surrounding discourse. I think I could mitigate the criticism through the show and characters being aware of how the words "expat" and "immigrant" impact them. The show would satirise the silly aspects, but address the imbalances, privilege, and so on.
