This “It’s about experiencing the people, not checking places off a list” is the whole reason why I travel too.

Anything that smells “bucket list” to me is a big no haha, and as you say it’s not a holiday… this type of travelling is a lifestyle design of sorts!

So excited to get to tag along, did you decide where the first stop is?

The first stop is the one I'm struggling with the most! I've answered the call to adventure but haven't figured out how to cross the first threshold.

I'm team train! There could be some deals locally for train like you said, and if you have the time to travel slowly and spontaneously. Check out Deutschlandticket if you're traveling in Germany, it allows unlimited train ride (except for fast speed trains) for 49€ a month. It's a subscription model though so you got to cancel quickly after it starts ;) I'm envious, this kind of slow traveling and living like the locals is my favorite kind!

Thanks, Rachel! 49 is a great deal as well.

Travelling is not a box checking exercise! Yes yes yes! I always say the same!

Personally, I get car sick on busses and prefer trains. Taking other forms of transport than plane can be fun (for sure more sustainable). when you enjoy the forms of travelling, then the journey plays a real part of the trip, it’s no longer just about the destination it’s a dedication and more than “just a trip”.

Enjoy your travel adventure!

Thanks, Carmen! It’s “a dedication” is a good way of putting it.

This is great! We haven't really looked into this (and, I admit, we fly too much, but we're trying hard to be better). Thanks!

Have you used Omio to look up buses and trains in Europe?

We usually do Omio, Rome2Rio, and Google to check prices. But we do train travel irregularly, so I don't know the best hacks yet.

Rachel Ooi just told me “ Deutschlandticket if you're traveling in Germany, it allows unlimited train ride (except for fast speed trains) for 49€ a month.” I think the best hack is asking someone who lives in the country what the cheapest deals are.

Oh! That's good. I'm using that! lol

Haha 😂 I know, it’s difficult advice to come across.

No, I'm thinking of the time in Switzerland when we were TOTALLY confused and overwhelmed by the (amazing) trains, and we asked a local friend, and he said, "Just do this." Took our phones, did it for us.

And it was easy, and an eerily cheap price compared to what we were about to pay.

Do you intend to share your itinerary with traced maps and case-in-point learnings from the ground?

Being returns of experience, encounters with individuals sharing the same path as you, etc.

Yes! Well, I didn't think about making a map, but I could do that.
