I'm inclined to think this is 80% social media (and the general decline in civility, I guess, but that's related to social media and the greater breakdown in community). I got called a Nazi AND a bigot yesterday (for defending a journalist who writes -- responsibly, IMHO -- on transgender issues). That was a first.
Oh man, it might be a first for you, but I think it’s very common for most critical thinkers with a large following online. I listen to several podcasts from people who get called nazis one day and leftist snowflakes the next just for sharing nuanced ideas.
