Harari polarizes, you can go on Goodreads and read raving and scathing reviews alternatingly. I found Sapiens a great read (Homo Deus I found less good) so I usually recommend Sapiens. Albeit, one needs to consider it is entertainment mostly, yes, the broad facts are there but whenever Harari shares his opinion, which he frequently does, it becomes obvious that he is no Futurist. Still, a very good read.
edit: actually, you can't go on Goodreads it seems... it's still down.
